Solution focused approach for Zimbabwe Women Conference in UK
By Muzvare Betty Makoni-MBM
Zimbabwe Women Global Forum Conference is by the corner happening in Central London on 26 January 2018.
Women should be empowered to come together and organise a strong leadership that works with national government, all political parties and all people of Zimbabwe to find solutions to current economic challenges the country is facing.
We therefore decided to have solution focused approach because Zimbabwe debates, challenges, up and downs are way far too many and if we stick to those our energies will soon run out. We know the negative narrative of Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe narrative is not new to us at all. We all know country was looted and destroyed. But what is the solution? The country is in intensive care unit and for anyone who needs to support they should bring solutions and not problems. One should be innovative and creative about how they can help solve current crisis, conflicts, arguments and misunderstandings. There is anger, anxiety, fear, uncertainty and hopelessness. However, what is urgent is the situation of the poor. That we must do something about as a matter of urgency. The poor cannot wait anymore.
We are meeting as ordinary women living in the diaspora but passionate about Zimbabwe as our home. We want to support any effort to make things better. There are 7 thematic areas to include but not limited to health, education, climate change, social services, women, science and technology and investment we have decided to explore during this conference.
During this conference we took a simple approach from a social work model called signs of safety and we will seek to answer the three powerful questions below.
1. What is working?
2. What is not working?
3. What can we do to make things better?
This is a solution focused conference.
