Zimbabwe Women Global Forum Conference-Top most influential Nigerian woman leader and politician to officiate as Guest of Honour

Former Enfield Mayor and one of the most influential Nigerians in UK, Councillor Kate Anolue  is Keynote speaker at Zimbabwe Women Global Forum. Her topic will be, Whither to Zimbabwean and African women?

Councillor Kate  will share experiences of how  Nigerians managed situations back then  as they transitioned politically and economically. She will share lessons for Zimbabweans. 

As one of the first women to study nursing in UK, she will share her personal experiences navigating between Nigeria and UK and how two lives for one woman living in foreign countries can build leadership in her.  Below is her bio and what she has achieved as a leader in UK and in her home country Nigeria.
Councillor Kate, a mother of four, was widowed when her youngest was eighteen months, but she did not succumb to her grief, instead, she was determined to soldier on, and she understands fully the plight of widowhood and single parenthood, a role model who is always ready to tell her story to empower others who find themselves in similar circumstances. She said: “I hope to continue empowering and inspiring women. I want women to know that they should never be discouraged by any sort of obstacle they may face, adversity is no excuse”

Councillor Kate a midwife for more than 30 years’ has a wealth of knowledge in women health and social issues that are prevalent in communities.  She champions causes like health, children and young people, single parents and vulnerable groups in the community, working closely with victims of domestic violence.

Councillor Kate has also more than 20 years’ experience in politics and over 10 years as Councillor which included Mayor of Enfield in 2013. In her Mayoral year she attended over 500 engagements and raised £44,000 for her chosen charity, which included Sickle cell and Thalassemia Support Group in Enfield and Sickle Cell Unit at North Middlesex University Hospital, young people leaving care,  children with disability and Stroke Action.

 For many years she has successfully mentored and encouraged many women in politics. She was a parliamentary candidate during the 2015 parliamentary selection.

 In February 2014, her positive outlook led to her being named "Nigerian Watch Woman of the Year". It is just one of the many achievements that this inspiring woman has scored over the past four decades, both in the UK and her native Nigeria.

Councillor Kate of Bush Hill Park, Enfield won 49 per cent of the public vote. It is estimated that more than 5,000 people participated. The competition was created by Nigerian Watch Newspaper to recognise the great strides of Nigerian women in the UK

 Through her political career, Councillor  Kate has worked closely with several organisations and women’s charities, including Enfield Women Aid and the Enfield Women Centre. But it was her experience as a widow that strengthened her and resolve to help the community; especially those from ethnic minorities, single parents and young people.


 As the first Nigerian in Enfield Local Government, Councillor  Kate worked hard to promote positive image and culture of Nigeria. Mentored and supported other Africans in Enfield, thus paving the way for more Nigerians and others into Enfield Local Government. A role model for Black And Minority Ethnic. (BAME)

KEY ACHIEVEMENT:
·         Gaining Law Degree whilst working full time as a midwife and bringing up her young family.
·         In 2007 conferred with the Honorary Freedom of The London Borough of Enfield for her service in the community
·         In 2008, conferred with Chieftain Title in her homeland Nanka- Nigeria, as :-
Ada Jelu Mba Tulu Ugo’, meaning ‘our daughter that went to foreign land and brought us glory’

Among her many awards are, Long Service Award from North Middlesex University Hospital for her dedication and service to pregnant women and their families.

Councillor Kate dedicates much of her achievement to God and the two men in her life, her late father, and her late husband, for the remarkable role they played in her life, both men believed in gender equality and education for girls.
